I hope everyone’s New Year is starting off well! Must say, I’m just now thawing out after that cold spell. Yesterday there was still a lot of ice on the lake. Don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some warm (lake) weather!

If you tuned into the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship game you were treated to one of the best championship games played in quite some time! The Georgia Bulldogs took on the Alabama Crimson Tide and both teams played like true champions! It was a fight to the end until the Tide was able to win the game in overtime. We’d like to give a huge thank you to both SEC teams for giving us a game to remember! Congratulations to Alabama for their championship win! Next season should be a great one for college football fans! Go Dawgs!
The Lake Wedowee Property Owners’ Association (LWPOA) will be hosting their annual Winter Banquet on Feb. 3, 2018. Invitations have been mailed to all current members. Please RSVP by January 26 if you are able to attend. This is a great organization whose motto is “Protecting Your Playground”. If you are not a member, please considering joining. Dues are only $35/year and goes towards protecting our lake environment and interest of the property owners. For more information, go to their website at www.lakewedoweepoa.com.
The LWPOA are in the process of checking into hosting a professional July 4th fireworks show on the south end of the lake this year, possibly at Flat Rock State Park. We are very excited about this possibility and being able to offer a professional display for all to enjoy! This would take donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals. If you, your company, or anyone you know might be interested in helping us put this together, please give us a call! We’d love to hear any ideas or feedback you might have about this. We’ll be sure to keep everyone posted on the possibility of this event.
Please remember us if you are looking for a home on Lake Wedowee or if you are selling a home in our area! We would love to work for you and really appreciate the opportunity to help! We know the lake and we show by boat! —Gene
