
It’s hard to believe that Easter is just over a week away! The trees, flowers, and of course the yellow pollen are all reminders that spring is certainly upon us! We hope you and your family have a very enjoyable Easter! For us, it’s a special holiday celebrating Jesus’ resurrection!
If you are in town Easter weekend and are looking for a place to worship and celebrate Easter, please remember that there is a sunrise service held Easter morning at Wedowee Lake Fishing Club located off County Road 15. The small lake and club will be on the right. Watch for the signs to the location. The service will begin at 6:30 am and is an outdoor service so dress warm if it’s a chilly morning. This is a casual service so please bring your friends and family and come as you are!
Looking for a bass tournament to enter and maybe win a few bucks? The Sawyer Lodge #93 F & AM will be holding their 13th Annual Scholarship Buddy Bass Tournament on April 7 from daylight till 3:00 pm. It will leave from the Highway 48 bridge boat ramp. You may not know about our local soup kitchen, The Lighthouse Soup Kitchen, located just across from our KWRG office in Wedowee and next to the First United Methodist Church on Broad Street . They are in need of monetary donations to help stock the kitchen. There is also a Lighthouse soup kitchen in Roanoke as well that is also in need of donations. If you would like to make a donation, you can mail a check to The Lighthouse, P.O. Box 40, Roanoke, AL 36274. If you want the donation to go towards the Wedowee Lighthouse, please specify that on the check. If you would like to volunteer at the Wedowee location, please contact the First United Methodist Church at (256) 357-2214 or for the Roanoke location as well as any additional information regarding donations, please contact the director, Linda Hurst at 334-646-2731. This is a great cause! Please consider helping those in need in our community!
Just a reminder not to forget about our local Commissioner’s Workshop meetings held on Thursdays at 3:00 prior to the Commissioner’s meetings which are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month! It’s a great way to stay involved with what’s going on in our community. Our next Commissioner’s workshop meeting will be held today, March 22, at 3:00 pm at the Commission Office located in the Courthouse Annex across the street from the Randolph County Courthouse (12 Broad St. East, Suite #2). Please try to attend when you can!
